Shivpal Yadav goes all poetic at SP celebrations, rules himself out of CM contention

Shivpal Yadav on Saturday ruled himself out of the chief ministerial nomination of his party for the upcoming assembly elections, but stopped short of declaring Akhilesh for the post.
“Khoon mangoge toh khoon bhi de denge, CM kabhi nahi banana. Kitna bhi apmaan karlo, main jaanta hoon accha kaam kia hai (If they want blood, I’ll give it to them but I don’t want to be the chief minister. You can insult me as much as you want, I know I have done good work),” he said.

The leader made the announcement at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow. SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and CM Akhilesh Yadav were also present.
While making it clear that he does not want to be the Chief Minister, Shivpal Yadav said Akhilesh can “sack” and “insult” him but he can give his blood for the party and stressed that he has worked hard as minister in the last four years.
“I want to tell popular CM Akhilesh that whatever sacrifice you want from me, I will give. I never want to become CM. You can insult me, sack me many times (as minister) but I can even give my blood for the party,” he said while addressing the party’s silver jubilee celebrations.
“It is because of Netaji’s struggle and the risks he took that SP was able to form government in UP not once but thrice,” he said. He then reiterated that he was ready to sacrifice anything for the party but he didn’t want to be the chief minister.
Shivpal Yadav cautioned against the people who made him look like an outsider in his own party while also praising Akhilesh Yadav.
“Hum jante hain hum logon ke beech ghuspetiye ghus gaye hain;jo aise mahoul paida karte hain, unse savdhaan rehne ki zarurat hai (I know people from outside have come inside the party but those who create a hostile situation should be stayed away from),” he said.
“Akhilesh ne accha kaam kia. Main itna bhi kehna chahata hoon jo zimmedari PWD vibhaag ki aapne di thi usmein bhi accha kaam hua (Akhilesh has done good work. I also want to say that the responsibility of PWD that he gave to me, even that has been done well),” he added.
He also said he was ready to give anything up for Mulayam Singh Yadav and do whatever he says.
“Hume koi bhi kurbani deni pade, hum hamesha netaji ki aagya ka paalan karenge (I will sacrifice anything, but I will always listen to what Netaji says),” he said.
Responding to Shivpal Yadav, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav said that he is ready for the battle. “Kisiko pariksha deni ki zarurat nahi hai, kisi ko pariksha deni hai toh, main tayyar hoon (No one needs to clear any hurdles. If any one has to clear any hurdles, I am ready for it),” he said. The UP CM also said that some people will only listen to you when the party gets spoiled.
“Kuch log sab sunenge lekin party bigadne ke baad (Some people will listen to you, only when the party is spoiled),” he said.
Showing his intentions, Yadav hinted that he will fight as he all the reasons to do so. “Aapne mujhe talwar bhent ki hai, aur talwar doge toh chalayenge hi (You gifted me a sword. If you give a sword, expect me to use it),” he said.
The Samajwadi Party has been in the middle of a raging family feud between Akhilesh and his uncle Shivpal, with party workers divided on the issue. Mulayam has continually insisted that there is no rift within the party even as both Shivpal and Akhilesh seem to be at odds with each other. The party supremo also made it clear that the legislators after winning the election would choose their chief ministerial candidate.
