Traumatising post showing monkey, tortured and killed by medical students, goes viral

Doctors are no less than gods for the mortal souls as they are trusted with the job of saving lives of people or animals alike. But sadly, four medical students of Christian Medical College in Vellore forgot the basic principal of this noble profession.
In a horrific act, they allegedly tortured and killed a female monkey that entered their hostel room. The shocking ordeal was shared by an animal lover and activist Shravan Krishnan on his Facebook wall.

According to Krishnan’s post, the tragic event took place on Saturday (November 19). “They tied her hands and started abusing and torturing her by beating her with sticks and belts, broke her legs, jaws and finally put a rod up her anus and killed her,” Krishnan wrote in his post. After the innocent animal was brutally killed, the students buried it in the hostel premises behind the mess.

Talking to the Indian Express Online, Krishnan said that few students from the campus became aware of the incident and urged the college authorities to take action but that they failed. Later a student, who wished to be anonymous, called the PETA India emergency helpline on Monday evening.

PETA India’s Emergency Response Coordinator, Meet Ashar informed the Indian Express online that he received a call on November 21. “Call was received on PETA’s Emergency Helpline number, I was on the line and acted immediately by alerting Chennai activists,” Ashar said.

From Chennai three other activists along with Krishnan left for Vellore, the next day and informed college authorities and the police. Krishnan also added that when the activists extracted the body of the monkey from the buried ground, the entire college was shocked at the brutality of the incident. The college principal who was also present at the scene assured them that strict action would be taken against the accused.

Talking to us, Krishnan also said it was heartbreaking how all the bones of the poor animal was shattered and his “neck was choked by a telephone wire”.

An FIR has been lodged and the college has suspended the four students. As of now, they have not been arrested but the activists hope justice will be done to the deceased animal.

The brutality of the incident has raged Netizens on social media and the post has gone viral. Disturbing images and videos shared by the activists have created a social turmoil with more and more people asking for a stringent punishment.
