Shoojit Sircar’s Pink is turning out to be a game changer in today’s transitioning society, which is stuck between two sets of social values and moralities. Society has come a long way from judging a guy if he drinks and smokes but it still can’t wrap its head around a woman doing the same thing.
Pink talks about how a woman is judged according to her behaviour and conclusions on her “availability” are made in no time. The film drives home the point that “No means no”. If a woman is friendly with a man and is going out for dinner and drinks with him, it certainly does not mean she is giving him an open invitation to share a bed. If she’s coming home late at night, it doesn’t mean she is a woman of questionable character. If she lives on her own despite her parents living in the same city, don’t already presume she is “characterless”.
While everyone out there can’t stop talking about how revelatory the movie is, the troll gang came up with this extremely sexist and senseless meme that says, “Before hating ‘male gender’ even more after watching Pink. Don’t forget that it was a ‘male’ who fought and gave justice to the girls.”
Well, of course, it’s a meme after all, but millions of people are reading it on social media, which inevitably is going to affect the mindset of those who don’t want to think that it’s not a man, it’s a lawyer who helped the girls and brought the matter to justice. It could well have been played by a female actor!
Well, the meme that was posted on the famous page Rajnikanth v/s CID Jokes, has angered many on social media. “Dear admin your post make no sense.its immaterial and hating the male gender is not a feminist standing for equal rights is.there is thin line in between that makes sense and you are walking in the line all drunk with ignorance,” wrote a user.
